A colorful Diwali

Standard

The kids are now getting all geared up for the festival of lights. We went lantern shopping day before and the boys picked out a gorgeous purple lantern, a lovely silver star lantern and a string of fairy lights. Came home and set it all up and it was well worth it when I saw the look on the boys faces. Who knew that 2 pretty lanterns and a string of light could lead to so much excitement and joy. The boys enjoyed watching the lanterns sway with the breeze and cast colorful shadows on the off white drawing room curtains.

We also did diya painting two evenings in a row. The boys loved painting the little mud lamps. While we started out painting with brushes, they quickly abandoned the brushes and used their fingers. The feel of the paint against the slightly grainy mud light seemed to be fun and they were quickly done with all 12 that I had bought. “No more???” they asked.  So we went and bought some more diyas yesterday. This time Amu joined us too. We had to be careful since we were using arylic but luckily Amu did not choose to ingest any.

Am posting a few pics. Will work on rangoli tomorrow.
