learning empathy

Standard

This evening as we were on our way back home from the park, my boys as always asked me to drive through the “tunnel” before parking (the tunnel is just a basement route to get from one end of the building complex to the other). As I was about to drive into the ‘tunnel’ sid asked me to slow down and carefully. He had spotted one of our neighbours – an older lady who has trouble walking, practicing walking holding onto the side railing through the basement. She does this three to four times a day while her attendant waits by with her wheelchair. The boys have asked me questions about her in the past. Sid pointed out to her and said “that auntie is walking there so drive carefully. She has trouble walking”

It’s nice to see them showing empathy and concern. Sometimes they drive me so up the wall that it’s refreshing to see this side too!!!!
